What is included in my membership?

SD Catholic singles works like a traditional dating site, in that you can browse profiles of available single persons and communicate with them to see if there is chemistry. However, the goal is not just to have a bunch of photos for you to browse, SD Catholic Singles wants to help you grow in your relationship with God. To help you with this SD Catholic singles will offer:

  • Events and activities for you to meet other members face to face. The majority of the events and activities will be faith formation or Christ centered because a good Catholic relationship is serious about God and serious about including faith in their courtship not just dating just for fun; but to have marriage in mind.
  • A social media environment, where you can make friends, support your friends, communicate and share stories along the road. There is also a "block" feature because sometimes, even though we have forgiven and moved on with love, there are persons in our lives that do not need to be involved in our current dating efforts.
  • Helpful blogs and advice from priests, deacons, religious and laity to help you with your search for a sacramental relationship
  • Access to daily readings, prayers, interactive rosary, USCCB and Pope Francis news all in once place and accessible to help you grow and stay committed.
  • Links to Diocese and Parish Resources

Do I have to be Catholic?

This site is for people searching for persons of the Catholic faith, so in short the answer is yes, however we do accept individuals in RCIA. In order to be a member of SD Catholic Singles we do require you to be registered at a parish (all parishes, including Byzantine and Chaldean) and in good standing with the Catholic Church. Additionally we do require that you be available to date. We accept those who are single, never been married, divorced, annulled and widowed. We do not accept individuals who are currently separated. We will suspend any membership without refund if your parish registration cannot be confirmed.

I am not registered in a Parish?

If you are not registered in a parish no problem we can help you with that. You can check the box "register me" when you join and we will send your information to the parish of your choice and register you. We do understand that Canon Law (518) states as a Catholic you are automatically a member of the parish within your geographical boundaries whether you register or not. However, one of SD Catholic Singles "terms of use" is in order to be a member is that you must be "registered" with a parish within the Diocese of San Diego.

One of the most important things that the people of a parish should do is register. Registering for the parish not only makes you more apart of the parish family and the Church it gives a chance for you to be counted and heard in the parish. Some important reasons to register are the following:

Sponsor Certificates - when you are asked to be a sponsor for either Baptism or Confirmation you need a letter signed from your pastor stating that you are a practicing Catholic. If you are not registered in the parish it is not possible for the pastor to sign these forms.
Marriage- For marriage preparation and marriage a letter may be needed from your pastor to allow you to get married in another parish or church.
Funerals- when burying a loved one in a catholic cemetery without a funeral mass it is necessary to get priest lines. Unfortunately the pastor needs to know if a parishioner was a registered member before he can officially sign the documents.

“It is characteristic of mature love that it calls into play all man's potentialities; it engages the whole man, so to speak. Contact with the visible manifestations of God's love can awaken within us a feeling of joy born of the experience of being loved.” Pope Benedict XVI
